Clovis police are expected to release more information about the department’s fatal shooting of a man early Sunday morning at a Walmart parking lot.
Police say that the man, identified as 26-year old Nikolas Frazier of Clovis, allegedly had a rifle. Police responded to the Walmart at 1185 Herndon Avenue at 1:37 a.m.
“During the contact, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided medical aid, and the male was transported to a local hospital where he later died,” Lt. Jim Munro said.
There were no other reports of anyone else being hurt.
Clovis police will update the media on Tuesday, including releasing body-camera footage. The Fresno County District Attorney’s office is also investigating.
Frazier’s father, Eric Frazier, did not want to speak publicly when contacted by GV Wire℠.
However, Eric Frazier told ABC30 that, to his knowledge, his son didn’t own a gun and didn’t have any struggles with mental illness. He also that his son recently landed a job at the Amazon fulfillment center.
Clovis police say this is the department’s first officer-involved shooting since 2016.
